The Author
Andra Rotaru
Andra Rotaru is a Romanian poet. She focuses on merging poetry with other mediums. Through global interdisciplinary projects, she explores the interactions of poetry with various disciplines and uses research—along with citations from other authors—as a method of co-creation and a tripod for broader frameworks.
She is the founder of the multimedia and multilingual journal Crevice and her books have been translated and published in the US, Germany, and Spain.

Grants and Awards
2006: The poetry book Într-un pat sub cearșaful alb received the National Prize Mihai Eminescu – Opera Prima, the National Prize Tudor Arghezi, Sibiu Writers' Union Prize Iustin Panţa, Bucharest Writers' Association Prize and Ion Vinea Award.
2012: Best-selling book (Lemur) at the Gaudeamus Book Fair, Bucharest.
2013: Poetry book of the Year (Lemur) at Writers' Gala, Bucharest.
2017: Asymptote Journal – Close Approximations Translation Contest (US). From 128 poetry submissions, esteemed judge Sawako Nakayasu selected one winner: Andra Rotaru's "wrong connections" (a fragment of the later poetry book Tribar), translated by Anca Roncea.
2018: Gulf Coast Prize in Translation Finalist (judge: Ilya Kaminsky) for fragments from Tribar, translated by Anca Roncea, and Anomaly's 2018 Pushcart Prize nominee.
2021: Poetry book Tribar was awarded the Malinda A. Markham Memorial Prize in Translation, translated by Anca Roncea, and publication.
2023: Saturnalia Books' Pushcart Prize nominee.
